Every week when we gather for prayer meeting, the dominant theme is to pray for our sick loved ones. Every week we add a new person to the dreaded "C" word list. You all know what I am talking about, it is cancer. For the past two years, we have heard of more people than ever getting cancer. We have been to more funerals this year than ever. Over the course of one year, we have had a loved one die every couple of months. It has truly been a heartbreaking year. People of all ages, and mostly young, our neighbors two year old grand-daughter, and several friends less than 50 years old. I will do a blog about the causes of cancer, but for now I want to discuss something that we never hear of, A CURE.
Because of all the people I know getting sick, coupled with the fact that I taught a health class last year led me to do a lot of studying. I love to do research, and I love science, and for me it is fun to learn new things that I can share. I love to look up things and help friends or family, another reason I am writing this blog now. What I found out was really appalling, and amazing at the same time. Also, recently there has been a 15-hour documentary that aired last week, in nine videos. The Truth About Cancer; A Quest for the Cure. It blew my mind, and reinforced everything that I already knew, and also gave me more information than I could absorb in one week. So I bought them, and hopefully can share them with others. These videos interviewed real doctors, researchers, and patients that have all defeated cancer.
There are many different things people can do to cure their cancer, from taking nutritional supplements, essential oils, hyperthermia treatments, oxygen therapy, etc. But there is one thing that they all had in common, and was the starting point and the most important point of their regimen. Everything began with a major change in the diet. Let me explain.
Our bodies need energy to live, and there are two ways our body gets this energy. The first way is the most common, and comes from the food that we eat. Food is broken down into proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. Only carbohydrates are used for energy, as our body breaks them down to glucose and feeds the cells. The other nutrients are used for other things, for example, protein breaks down into amino acids and builds muscle, hair, nails, etc. Fats help our body make hormones, and help bring our body the fat soluble vitamins. But carbohydrates are essentially used for energy. When we have too much glucose in our blood, (too much energy), our body stores that and turns it into fat.
The second way our body can get energy only happens when we DO NOT EAT CARBOHYDRATES. Then, our body must go to the fat and break that down, and feed that to our cells. This is an effective way to lose weight as well, but what does all of this have to do with cancer?
Research has taught us that cancer cells can only derive energy from glucose. As a matter of fact, cancer cells have extra insulin receptors, which actually steal glucose away from the rest of the cells by taking as much of it as they can. They have adapted themselves to literally steal all of the bodies food. But guess what, they do NOT have the ability to use fat for energy, like the good cells in our body do. So if we deprive our body of carbohydrates, they do not get any food, and they begin to die. This is known as a ketogenic diet, check out this short article and video - Starving Cancer: Ketogenic Diet a Key to Recovery
This is a big step, but so much in the right direction. If you knew you were going to die, would you give up the precious carbohydrates? If you aren't sure what a carbohydrate is, let me explain. The food in this category are ALL grains, and sugar. This means all breads, cakes, cookies, rice, cereals, wheat, and anything sweet. These are the foods that NEED to be avoided. But what can you eat?
Your diet would become top-heavy with fresh vegetables, (preferably organic), and fruits. You would be allowed to eat protein, such as eggs, meat, and cheese. (Some diets limit dairy as well) Vegetables and fruits do contain carbohydrates, but they are so packed with vitamins and minerals and fiber that they actually help keep our glucose levels lower.
So here is the question I will ask someone, "Are you willing to change your diet?" I get this look like I am an alien, or some crazy person who actually thinks you can cure cancer with diet. I get laughed at, ignored, and sadly told that they already eat healthy, and it didn't keep the cancer from growing. I just walk away, feeling sad because very few people will actually listen, and very, very few people will actually limit their carbohydrate intake.
When are we going to realize that we need to FEED our body healthy foods. We eat for entirely the wrong reason, because things taste good. I am guilty too, But when we have cancer, we need to be radical, because we need to live. We need to live for our families, and to be a beacon of light out there to the rest of the world who may not have this information. I have decided to change course in my blogs for a while, and focus on cancer fighting treatments. But before you start any of them please do this first step, and change your diet. You will be glad you did, and help your body repair and regenerate, and steal food back from the cancer, so it starves!
