Today, I was in the car, and the DJ's on the radio were speaking about people who are "germaphobes." How many times have I seen this? Hundreds! People running around with antibacterial gel, people afraid to use a public toilet, people afraid to shake hands. It makes me sad.
First of all, let me remind you that God made our bodies with the ability to fight germs. We have a wonderful thing called the Immune system that does more than we often realize. Let me explain a little how it works.
Once our bodies get infected with a bacteria or a virus an "intruder alert" signal goes off and our immune system kicks into high gear. We have many types of cells that go to war to kill and eradicate the intruders. After our body kills the intruders, it makes antibodies that recognize the intruders faster so they have a much harder time getting in if they try to intrude again. The more we get sick or have germs invade our body, the more antibodies we have and ultimately the healthier we become, even when faced with germs. Let us not forget that we must take care of our bodies to keep our immune system healthy, and therein lies a problem for many people. It means eating right to give our system the tool it needs to properly fight and win, as well as getting enough sleep and exercise.
What do you think all of these antibacterial gels and medicines do? Especially since they are being so often overused. Sometimes we need them to save our lives but that should be a rarer instance than is commonly practiced these days. Unfortunately many people use these products all of the time for things that are not serious. Because of that bacteria become harder to kill, and we create super bugs. Our bodies never get a chance to form antibodies, and sometimes we keep getting the same things over and over and over.
How many kids have chronic ear infections? Mine first couple did. How many people have chronic sinus infections? I did. I had to let my son suffer through two ear infections that his body healed with the help of vitamins and herbs, and guess what, he never had another ear infection again. After learning that with one child, I practiced giving an increased vitamin/nutrition boost at the first sign of sickness, and none of my other five children ever had another ear infection. I did the same for my sinus infections, and the last one I had was 22 years ago.
What I am trying to say is that we don't need to eradicate every germ our bodies come into contact with antibiotic gels or medicines, and actually sometimes the everyday germs we come into contact with can make our bodies stronger. I work in a hospital, and as soon as the antibacterial foam came out we were told to use it instead of washing our hands. We did this for years, and then about two years ago it all changed. We are supposed to wash our hands with soap and water. So why the change? Because now we know that all that antibiotic foam and gel is not as good for us as they initially thought. Even hospitals know better now, probably because of all the super bugs we are helping to create.
All I am trying to say is we don't always have to be so afraid of the "germ" that we seek to eradicate it before it can get near us. Stop using all that antibiotic stuff in your home and on your body. Now of course I am not talking about not cleaning the toilet bowl, or handling raw chicken blood without a proper cleaner; I am talking about wiping down phones, door handles and everything we touch with antibiotic cleaner. I am talking about constantly using antibiotic gel on our hands every time we touch something. We need to stop being afraid of every thing we touch.
If you must use something, consider the Thieves line from Young Living. This line includes an essential oil that can enhance the immune system. There is a hand gel that you can use like antibiotic gel but without the negative side effects, as well as handy wipes. There is the Thieves cleaner, which I use all over my house and it doesn't make me sick like most chemical cleaners do. There is also Thieves toothpaste, mouthwash, and dental floss. The Thieves blend blend contains cinnamon, clove, lemon, rosemary, and eucalyptus oils. It has been proven to kill 99.96% of bacteria, viruses, and molds. It is highly effective and there is nothing bad about it like many chemical gels have.
But even with these excellent products, please don't be a "germaphobe" in life, but if you feel you need something, try out our Thieves products from Young Living Essential Oils. The best stuff around, and non toxic for you and your family.
